Our Story

Hard work and discipline...

Don Pedro Gordillo Sr., our grandfather, imparted upon us the timeless values of a man of substance—not in wealth alone, but in compassion, diligence, and understanding that life's rewards stem from dedication and hard work.

Raised amidst the rustic charm of the ranch, our daily routine was a lesson in labor. Every meal was earned through sweat and toil: feeding horses, tending chickens, hauling hay bales—you name it.

As a child, I often resented these duties, preferring the allure of video games over the call of the land. Yet with time, I came to appreciate the wisdom behind my grandfather's teachings: the priceless lessons of industry and self-discipline.

Among my fondest memories is watching him craft his signature Beef Jerky. He meticulously sliced the meat, seasoned it with ingredients sourced from his own farm, and patiently allowed it to air dry over days. His "Ranch Style Jerky" was more than a snack; it was a testament to his pride and craftsmanship, shared generously with friends and family alike.

He embodied family values and a commitment to quality that resonates with us to this day. His recipes, carefully preserved, serve as the heart of El Viejon.

For us, El Viejon signifies more than just beef jerky—it embodies family, quality, consistency, and value. It's a reward savored after a day of hard work, a moment of indulgence in rich, savory flavors that define the Ranch Style Difference.
